“Circular fashion—i.e., clothing that re-enters the market or is upcycled into something new, rather than being thrown away—is undeniably the future.”

— Farra, E, Vogue November 2020

Vintage

Vintage clothing is typically 20 years old or older and can be determined to be vintage using several identifiers such as labels, garment style, silhouette and composition just to name a few.

The history of women’s standardized sizing is lengthy and has changed drastically over the years. Although vintage sizing can differ greatly from modern day sizing that’s no reason to shy away from vintage. Before buying, take your own measurements and shop with confidence. Second West provides all garment measurements, material details and fit description.

Second Hand

Second hand clothes consist of modern apparel that has been pre-owned and pre-worn.

In lieu of buying new take a look at what you can find second hand. Shopping used is great way to give a second life to quality items that may otherwise end up being thrown out. Second West offers a collection of second hand apparel that looks and feels new!

Each year people are buying substantially more clothing only to discard them after wearing them a handful of times. The number of times an item is worn before it is discarded dropped 36% between 2002 and 2016. That means there are more “like new” garments than ever to choose from.

Learn more about the impact of the increasing textile waste and how second hand shopping is a trend that is on the rise.

Repurposed

Repurposed clothing is second hand or vintage clothing that has been altered, redesigned or customized into more modern wear.

Repurposing or recycling your unwanted clothing is a sustainable way to dispose of last seasons look without contributing to textile waste. Many synthetic fibers, such as polyester, are non-biodegradable making them un-recyclable and a large contributor to our landfills.

Coming soon, Second West will have several repurposed options available for purchase! Check out how other industry designers are taking repurposing into consideration.
